---From July 30 to Aug. 2 ,2012, Professor
Li Zhiwu with HRC took part in the 2nd East Asia Summit
(EAS) Energy Efficiency Conference held in Phnom Penh,
Cambodia.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation are
among the energy cooperation work streams identified under
the EAS Energy Cooperation Task Force. The 2nd EAS Energy
Efficiency Conference was hosted by the Ministry of Industry,
Mines and Energy, Cambodia(MIME), with co-organizers,
the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia
(ERIA) and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), and a special
supporter, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The overall objective of this Conference
is to provide a forum where policy makers, academia, and
private sectors can dialogue with each other. Around 200
people from ASEAN countries attended this conference,
deepening understand of policy, sharing experiences, and
discussing potential developments in energy efficiency
in the EAS region. Prof. Li was the only Chinese expert
present at the conference.
Prof. Li made a report titled "China's
small hydropower in rural energy development", to
introduce the China's small hydropower policy, technology,
development obstacle and other aspects. The experts and
officials took great interests in this presentation, showing
their expectation to develop SHP in their own countries
with reference of China's experience.
During the meeting, Prof. Li paid a
return view to some participants who had taken part in
international training course for small hydropower held
in HRC. MIME has sent over 30 officials and technical
personnel to attend the training workshops conducted in
HRC since 1980s. The participants were very grateful to
the Chinese Government for offering technical trainings,
which enabled them to share technology and experience,
and thus playing significant roles in local SHP development.
Banquet was held specially for Prof. Li by the participants,
among which, Mr. HENG SOKKUNG, Under Secretary of State,
MIME, came all the way from other province to attend the
reunion with Prof. Li. (2012-08-13)
