---At the invitation of Cape Peninsula
University of Technology (CPUT), HRC's delegation visited
its campus and communicated with the teachers and students
from Faculty of Engineering on April 12.
In 2005, the Cape Technikon and Peninsula
Technikon were consolidated to form the Cape Peninsula
University of Technology (CPUT) with 72 departments under
12 faculties. Its Faculty of Engineering is specialized
in industrial Sci-tech research and cultivating professional
personnel for practical usage.
Ms. Cheng and her delegation were warmly
greeted by Mr. Anthony Staak, CPUT's Deputy Vice-Chancellor,
and Ms. Veruscha Fester, Assistant Dean of Faculty of
Engineering moderated the meeting during which Ms. Cheng
introduced HRC to all the faculty members, students and
admin staff. Assistant Director of HRC Mr. Lin Ning gave
a report on Chinese SHP Equipment & HRC Overseas Practices;
Mr. Ilyas Omar, a lecturer in Faculty of Engineering and
also participant of the 2000 SHP Training Workshop, reported
on South Africa's SHP development. The in-depth exchanges
and discussions on SHP development technology and equipments
were conducted between the two sides, and the delegation
of HRC visited the Mechanical Engineering Workshops of
the Faculty of Engineering.
After the meeting, a memorandum of understanding
on cooperation was signed by both sides to define the
SHP cooperation framework for the next stage.(2013-05-13)
