---HRC's delegation visited Tanzania
Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) on the morning
of April 15 at its invitation. The delegates were warmly
welcomed by TANESCO's Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Boniface
Njombe (HRC's participant in 1996), and other former participants
of China's foreign-aid training workshops held by HRC.
TANESCO is a state-owned enterprise
affiliated to the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals
with almost 95% of Tanzania's domestic power projects
under its control. Since 1993, 16 TANESCO officials and
technicians have participated in various training workshops
and seminars held by HRC. Mr. Njombe mentioned the sweet
old days he spent in Hangzhou and extended his warm welcome
to Ms. Cheng and her delegation. He hoped that HRC would
organize such return visits more often so as to renew
our friendship and retain our exchanges. The two parties
also discussed over the issue of co-organizing a small
hydropower and rural electrification seminar as well as
the cooperation on Planning on Regional Electric Development
in Ruvuma Region and Water Resources Exploitation of Muhuwesi
River.
After the meeting, a memorandum of understanding
on cooperation was signed by both sides to define the
cooperation framework for the next stage. (2013-05-13)
