---Under the sponsorship of the Chinese
Government and the ASEAN Secretariat, HRC organizes the
ASEAN-China Training Workshop on Small Hydropower and
Solar Energy System for Rural Electrification with the
participation of 9 officials and experts from the fields
of energy and power in 7 ASEAN member countries, i.e.
Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippine, Singapore
and Thailand. The one-week training workshop, kicking
off on 13th July and accomplishing on 19th July, is the
68th international training program implemented by HRC
since its establishment.
The opening ceremony held at the multifunctional
hall of HRC was presided over by Mr. Lin Ning, the Division
Chief of Foreign Affairs and Training of HRC. Ms. Cheng
Xialei, Director of HRC delivered a speech, extending
the warm welcome to all the participants who came all
the way here from the ASEAN countries for the significant
event. Deputy Directors of HRC, Mr. Xu Jincai and Mr.
Huang Jianping, were also present at the opening ceremony.
Twenty three years ago, the former
Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen attended the 24th
ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
at the invitation of the ASEAN side, which marked the
beginning of China-ASEAN dialogue relations. Over the
past 23 years, China and ASEAN have embarked on a path
of cooperation based on good neighborliness, friendship
and mutual benefit. The comprehensive cooperation between
China and ASEAN has not only given a strong boost to their
economic and social development and brought tangible benefits
to their peoples, but also made important contribution
to the peace, stability and prosperity of the region and
the world at large.
During the training workshop, based
on plentiful technical presentations and site visits to
SHP and solar energy stations and manufacturers, the in-depth
discussion will be made on the fulfillment of more concrete
cooperation in the field of rural electrification and
renewable energy among China and the ASEAN member countries.
