adequate, reliable and affordable power by planning, constructing,
operating and maintaining all generation, transmission
and distribution facilities in Nepal's power system both
interconnected and isolated. In addition, its major responsibilities
are to recommend to Government of Nepal, long and short-term
plans and policies in the power sector; to recommend,
determine and realize tariff structure for electricity
consumption with prior approval of Government of Nepal;
and to arrange for training and study so as to produce
skilled manpower in generation, transmission, distribution
and other sectors.
At the meeting, Director Ms. Cheng
extended a warm welcome to the NEA delegates. The extensive
exchange of views and information has been made concerning
energy development and bilateral cooperation. The visitors
highly evaluated HRC's efforts and achievements in the
field of SHP. In the past decade, NEA dispatched nearly
20 officials and engineers to HRC for attending the international
training programs. It is expected that more bilateral
cooperation in technical training and management of hydropower
development will be carried out in future.
After the meeting, accompanied by Chief
Mr. Lin, the NEA delegates visited some of HRC's affiliated
departments, such as Hangzhou Yatai Hydro Equipment Completing
Co.,Ltd., New Technical Lab of SHP, and SHP Engineering
