---During Nov. 4-6, 2015, a delegation
of 4 persons was invited to attend the Symposium on 13th
Five-year Plan for Rural Hydropower Development in China,
including Ms. Elisabeth Rysanek, the Counselor from the
Embassy of the Republic of Austria in China, who is in
charge of agriculture, forestry and environment, Ms. Birgit
Vogel, Head of RBM Solutions-River Basin Management, Mr.
Stefan Schmutz, Head of Institute of Hydrobiology and
Aquatic Ecosystem Management of the University of Natural
Resources and Life Sciences, and Mr. Peter Matt, Head
of Engineering Services of the Vorarlberger Illwerke AG.
The symposium, under the framework of China-Europe Water
Platform, was co-organized by HRC and ICSHP, and sponsored
by Special Committee on Hydropower Generation of Chinese
Hydraulic Engineering Society, Special Committee on Small
Hydropower of Chinese Society for Hydropower Engineering
and The International Small Hydropower Association.
On the symposium, Austrian side presented
three papers including Water Resources Management and
Hydropower in Austria as well as Related Cooperation Activities
with China under the China-Europe Water Platform, Implementation
of Green Hydropower Standards in Austria and the European
Union towards Sustainable Development, and Hydropower
and the Environment in Austria from the Point of View
of a Hydropower Operator: (i) today in context with the
past and (ii) current environmental measures.
During their stay in Nanjing, the delegation
was introduced to understand the development history and
research status of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute,
the Special Committee's organization, SHP periodical and
rural hydropower development in China, etc. Besides, the
delegation paid a visit to Tiexinqiao Research Base of
Water Science and Engineering. Both sides expressed their
willingness to have joint researches on the small hydropower
impact on environment. HRC will cooperate with Austrian
side for making comparison studies and the applications
of SHP environmental standards.(2015-11-23)
