---On the morning of 12th March 2021, the kick-off meeting for a "Belt and Road" joint research project of 2020 -- China-Pakistan Joint Research on SHP Technology, one of the Projects of Strategic Sci.-tech. Innovation Cooperation under the National Key R&D Program of China, was successfully organized by HRC and launched online and on-site simultaneously. Ms. Xu Jing, Director from the Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, attended online and addressed the meeting, and Mr. Wu Shiqiang, Vice President of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, came to HRC attending the on-site meeting and delivering a speech.
Experts of the project advisory group, respectively from Development Research Center of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, Dam Safety Management Center of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, International Center for Small Hydro Power, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Ocean University, Representative Office of China Three Gorges Corporation in Pakistan, and Zhejiang New Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. etc., had attended the meeting and put forward advices in terms of the advanced technology, cooperation concept and mode, risk prevention and control, publicity and talent training, etc.
HRC has been actively promoting the cooperation on SHP technology between China and Pakistan in recent years. In 2015, "China-Pakistan Joint Research Center for Small Hydropower", set up with joint efforts of HRC and its Pakistani partners, was jointly unveiled by Chinese President Xi Jinping and former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. In 2019, this Center was accredited by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China to be one of China’s first 14 "Belt and Road" Joint Laboratories. The project, "China-Pakistan Joint Research on SHP Technology", is based on the cooperation achievements between China and Pakistan, and will further expand and deepen the mutual cooperation, promote the long-term consolidation of the joint laboratory, build a comprehensive technology sharing platform for SHP and other renewable energies between China and Pakistan, and continuously enhance the positive influence of the joint laboratory in the South Asian Region.
Also present at the meeting were Ms. Wang Jinsu, Consultant Director from the Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, Director General of HRC Mr. Xu Jincai, Deputy Director of HRC Mr. Dong Dafu and the project team members.(2021-03-19)
