---On May 7, Forum on Green Energy and Climate Change kicked off in the Spring City Kunming. Mr. Xu Jincai, Director General of National Research Institute for Rural Electrification, MWR, P. R. China was present at the opening ceremony and made an opening speech. The forum was a hybrid event combining both the online and offline audience. More than 100 government officials, researchers and technical experts from 19 countries including Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Vietnam, Zambia were present via video link on the forum. Domestic participants from research institutes and enterprise attended the physical in-person event in Kunming.
On the afternoon of May 7, the forum was themed on Solar Power in the Belt & Road Cooperation on Green Energy & Climate Change. 7 experts delivered presentations on the forum covering topics of Analysis of 2030 Prospects of Distributed PV in SA and SEA Countries, Promoting the Exchange and Cooperation of "Belt and Road Initiative" Renewable Energy through "Cooperative Innovation", Splendid PV Boosts Renewable Energy on B&R Cooperation, Solar Pumping System Technology Application and Development, Independent Households Power Supply, Green Energy Empowers Low Income Population in Off-grid Areas, Renewable Hybrid Off-grid Generating System Application, etc. The presenters included Mr. Charlie Dou, Visiting Professor of the University of West Texas A&M, Mr. Xu Rui, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment, Mr. Cao Hua, General Manager of the Overseas New Energy Development, Zhejiang CHINT New Energy Development Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Ju, General Manager of Solartech Overseas Business Department of Shenzhen Solartech Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., Ms. Jin Ni, Global Marketing Manager of Hangzhou Solar Photoelectricity Co., Ltd., Ms. Li Xia, General Manager of Shenzhen Power-Solution Ind Co., Ltd., and Mr. Chen Ting, Senior Engineer of National Research Institute for Rural Electrification, MWR, P. R. China. Besides, Mr. Adan Mangal, solar expert from Afghanistan National Standard Authority, delivered an invited presentation on Improvement of Energy Efficiency in Buildings. On the forum, online and offline audience had an in-depth exchange on solar industry development, new solar technology development and applications.
The solar session of the forum was co-organized by Yunnan Green Energy Industry Association, PV Foreign Trade Pre-warning of Zhejiang Province and National Research Institute for Rural Electrification and the session provided a platform for participants to have in-depth and extensive exchange and communication on applicable technology, practical experience and international cooperation in the field of solar technology and climate change. Besides the solar session, the forum has also organized other sessions on small hydropower technology standards, integrated water resources management and dam safety, green hydropower development, etc.(2021-05-12)
