Seminar on Centralized Operation Technology for Multiple Small Hydropower Stations Successfully Held

---On July 19th, the Seminar on Centralized Operation Technology for Multiple Small Hydropower Stations which was sponsored by the Technical Research Center for Rural Hydropower of China’s Ministry of Water Resources, the Hydroelectric Special Committee under the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society and the Small Hydropower Special Committee under the China Society for Hydropower Engineering, and organized by the National Research Institute for Rural Electrification (NRIRE) of China’s Ministry of Water Resources and the China-Pakistan "Belt and Road" Joint Laboratory on Small Hydropower Technology was convened successfully in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Ms. SUN Yaqin, Counsellor for the Department of Rural Water and Hydropower of China’s Ministry of Water Resources was present at the seminar. The seminar was moderated by Mr. DONG Dafu, Deputy Director General of NRIRE/HRC. Ms. SHU Jing, Deputy Director General of NRIRE/HRC attended the seminar.

The discussion and exchanges in the morning session were around the topic–the Centralized Operation Technology for Multiple Small Hydropower Stations. Experts from the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) of the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) introduced the conditions, current situation and challenges of the small hydropower development in Pakistan and Nepal. Representatives from the NARI Water Resources and Hydropower Technology Co., Ltd., Chongqing New Century Electrical Co., Ltd. and NRIRE/HRC presented respectively on exploration and practice of smart hydropower plant, small hydropower smart centralized control operation and maintenance system, and centralized control & optimized operation for small hydropower plants. The participants carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on the research, development and application of centralized control technology for multiple small hydropower stations. The discussion and exchanges in the afternoon session were around the topic–the Intelligent Transformation of Small Hydropower Intensive Operation. Ms. SUN Yaqin, Counsellor for the Department of Rural Water and Hydropower of China’s Ministry of Water Resources made a presentation on "Promoting Smart and Intensive Modern Small Hydropower Construction". And other presentations made by domestic organizations working in the field of intensive management of small hydropower were about "the Typical Application and Practice of Centralized Operation Platforms", "the Intensive Operation Scheme of Smart Transformation of Small Hydropower", "the Discussion on the Smart Transformation and Intensive Operation of Small Hydropower" and "the Interface Compatibility Problem of Small Hydropower Intelligent Intensive Construction".

The centralized operation technology for multiple small hydropower stations is an important technical support for the green transformation and modernization of small hydropower stations during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The exchanges and promotion of relevant results are the specific measure to practice President Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization and promote the Chinese path to modernization. In recent years, through the danger removal and reinforcement of facilities and equipment, digital transformation of power stations, construction of centralized control centers, ecological restoration, and energy storage rehabilitation, China has achieved good results in promoting the digitalization, intensive development and standardization of small hydropower, and has accumulated relevant experience. Through practice sharing and technical exchanges, the seminar provided multilateral wisdom and reference for promoting the green transformation and modernization of small hydropower, jointly promoting the green and high-quality development of small hydropower.

Representatives from the Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies, the AJK Power Development Organization, the International Center on Small Hydro Power and the Jiangxi Water Conservancy Technology Center were invited to attend this seminar.
